Melissa and Kym came to New York City from Australia for their Christmas Eve elopement. I loved working with this fantastic couple on their wedding. I helped them plan their oversees elopement and was on hand on the day of the wedding to make sure it all went seamlessly.
Melissa and Kym came to me three months before their nuptials with a rough idea of what they wanted their NYC elopement to be. This super easy-going couple had a clear vision of a simple, elegant wedding. Browse threw the elements of the wedding so beautifully photographed by their ever-so-talented elopement photographer Amber Marlow.
outfits and accessories
Melissa looked beautiful in her navy blue Badgley Mischka gown. Since the weather was cold for this Christmas Eve elopement, she wore the elegant coat you see hanging in the background. Her accessories included gold shoes from Me! Via Shoes of Prey and simple earrings by Mezi. Did we mention Kym had their AMAZING engagement and wedding rings made to order by Lewis Joallier (Sydney, Australia)? Breathtaking!!
The groom had his custom suit made by Bespoke from Shirt Bar Sydney. Adding to his look - his bow tie, adorable cuff links and an embroidered, personalized shirt marking their wedding date.
It was important to Melissa to have local, low footprint flowers. She wanted a bouquet and boutonniere that matched her winter wedding but was ecologically responsible. She relied on me to help her find the right florist for the job. The folks at Petals and Roots were the solution. The store owner, Alex, understood Melissa's concerns and found locally grown greenery and a few colorful flowers to create this masterpiece. They were so easy to work with and really delivered both in style and in supporting Melissa's environmental concerns.
Few elopements include a wedding cake, but this one surely needed one! Our groom Kym has a serious sweet tooth. Again, the couple had a clear vision of what they wanted. A wedding cake that appealed both to the eyes and the taste buds. Kym choose a carrot cake with a cream cheese frosting that matched their winter wedding. This cake did not disappoint. Wild Flour NYC created a gorgeous wedding cake for the occasion that far exceeded their expectations. It was delicious and a work of art!
Melissa and Kym both wanted a little pampering on their wedding. Melissa choose the talented Sharon Becker to do her makeup and hair on wedding day. Kym enjoyed a relaxing shave at the barber shop at Freemans Sporting Club to look his best.
The private ceremony preformed by Marley Jay took place on the roof of the Rivington Hotel, the place where the couple was staying. I can't say enough about the amazing customer service at this establishment. They went above and beyond for this couple, including sending them up a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. The views they had while they exchanged their vows were simply perfect.
new york city elopement
The best part of eloping to NYC are the great backdrops you get without even trying. Melissa and Kym walked the Lower East side and enjoyed the view along the way.
They began their post ceremony celebrations at a local pub. Since the couple enjoys whiskey, the Copper Sill was the perfect spot. After a few photos and some cocktails, the couple ended their night at the famous Jean George in Trump Tower. A magical ending to a perfect NYC elopement!
Thank you to Melissa and Kym for letting me be a part of your special day and Amber for the recommendation and the lovely photos.
