I am so excited about my new website. It has been a few years since I have looked over my portfolio. Putting the website together has reminded me of my clients, their beautiful events and all that I have learned through the years. I am excited to be working again. The kids are getting older and it is much easier to juggle their schedules.
If being back wasn't exciting enough, having the first wedding of the year be the Curtin/Danes wedding tops it all. I was hired to do set up for their reception. A small job in comparison to what I normally do, but well worth it! Cindy did such a great job making the elements of her theme personal and stand out. Asa was very charming and involved in the wedding plans. Asa's parents were such lovely people! It was a pleasure to work for such a warm and caring family.
A bit about their event. The venue used for both the ceremony and reception was Housing Works in NYC. It is a beautiful bookstore that is transformed into an amazing, dim lit reception. The tall book shelves line the walls in an elegant way. Book ladders cascade down reminding you where you are. Tea lights stream across the dance floor to give a romantic and intimate feeling. The circular stairways add to the charm of this vintage book store.
The couple personalized their wedding with hand painted seating cards. Tables were cleverly named instead of numbered by book genre. And to complete the theme, each table was headed with a stack of books matching the genre mentioned in the name. Each guest was given a piece of paper delicately tucked into their napkin with a book quote matching the genre. It all came together sooo nicely. The escort cards were bookmarks, tassel and all!
Oh and the flowers! They were beautiful. Rebecca Shepherd arranged the perfect centerpieces, an arch way made of branches and flowers that housed the escort cards and the vines on the stairs.
I didn't stay for the whole event, since my job was mostly setup related. But it was a lovely wedding to be a part of. I hope to have photos from the event up on the website soon.
